1. One more time: Republicans don’t have a plan to replace the ACA because the ACA IS THEIR PLAN. Thought up by Heritage, instituted by Romney, it was the compromise that was politically feasible in 2010 when the unemployment rate was near 10% and the wholesale destruction of the health insurance industry was a non-starter.
   Similar plans in other countries manage to get universal coverage because they don’t suffer from a constant all out assault from half of the political leadership.
   There are various ways to get everyone covered, each with its own strengths and drawbacks, but none of them work well if those in charge of instituting them don’t want everyone covered.
