First part of Joe Manchin’s press gaggle:
“My top line has been $1.5 [trillion] because I believe in my heart that what we can do and what the needs we have right now and what we can afford to do, without basically changing our whole society to an entitlement mentality." pic.twitter.com/IoeWp9vrem

This, of course, is before the lobbyist money started rolling in:

You are kinder than I will ever be, Susie.
$3.5 trillion over 10 years, or $350 billion per year, for the people versus $7.6 trillion over 10 years, or $760 billion a year, for war.
Joe Manchin, “$3.5 trillion? That’s too much. I’m looking to spend $1.5 trillion so we don’t encourage an entitlement mentality.”
But Joe, what about the unpaid for $760 billion that you want to spend on the military every year for 10 years for a total of $7.6 trillion.
“That may not be enough.”
$350 billion a year to: expand Medicare and other health care, deal with climate change, subsidize education through grade 14, etc., is just too much to spend on the needs of the American people according to Joe Manchin.
But spending $760 billion a year on the weapons of war may not be enough?
At least the other Capitalist warmongers in the Democratic Party are willing to give us schmucks down here in the trenches a little bigger piece of the pie and pay for it by taxing the rich and corporations, Joe.
