Reverend Howard Finster………

This weekend is the Finster Festival in Summerville, GA. The festival celebrates the life and folk art of Howard Finster, “The Man of Visions.” He was not only a folk artist, but, a preacher of the Word.

He built on his property a “Paradise Garden” of murals and sculptures from all kinds of junk that he could find. He also was famous for painting album covers for REM, Talking Heads and also a painting of an Absolut Vodka Bottle for an ad.

In my young adult life. no springtime would be complete without visiting Howard Finster’s Paradise Gardens in Pennville in northwest Georgia. One could take hours exploring the grounds. A real treasure.

I am sure most will miss this event. So, here is an article about the gardens and the restoration project. Also, if you want to look around here is a tour.

Hack this

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for ways to make stuff work better. (Like, an easy way to close the gap between my car window and the molding so I don’t have to listen to that annoying air whistle.)

So I was happy to run across Sugru, this moldable silicone stuff that will be perfect for fixing my phone headset (and, I’m sure, a bunch of other things). Right now, I use Goop to fix most things. But it dries very hard and it has a really strong chemical odor. Look at the site gallery or on YouTube for the many ways people have figured out how to use this (like child-proofing a camera)!

Losing

David Weprin is now losing the safe democratic seat previously held by Anthony Weiner 44-50 to the republican.

Reminder: 56% of Weiner’s constituents wanted him to stay, but the DCCC and the Democratic leadership knew what was best for the 9th district of NY. it was a safe seat. And while the true impact is negligible, as the 9th is likely to be redistricted out of existence, the optics are awful, it exposes the DCCC to charges of incompetence, and it’s a huge waste of money and time.

But that’s the DCCC for you: Suuuuuper-geniuses, all of them.

Also, Too

Often, you’ll notice I use the tag “asshole” in my posts.

I often use that tag to refer to myself. It is doubly true in this instance.
Happy whatever day this is, peeps.

This is the fault of the Professional Left

It’s time, I’m coming clean and taking responsibility. It’s my fault. And, seriously, what isn’t?

Did you read this? Or this? Or this? Totally the fault of progressive bloggers and liberal activists, me included, for complaining about Democratic policies and the behavior of the Obama administration.

Because all Democratic and liberal-leaning voters totally read our blogs or ask us personally before deciding whether the government is making their lives better and reflecting their values. All of them. We’re that powerful.

Kneel before Zod, m@f&ers.
