Fuck Gingrinch. My grandfather started working in coal mines at the age of 10. Before he died with black lung, he regaled us all with tales of those good ol’ Rethug days when 8 year-olds (both boys and girls) got their arms torn off as they picked coal out of the hopper. Of course their was no such thing as health insurance or workman’s compensation (yet another of those ‘socialist’ ideas that unions had yet to bring to the world). If they were lucky they died and weren’t a burden to the family for the rest of their lives.
