  1. A U.S. bankruptcy judge, Steven Rhodes, said yesterday that “There is no enforceable right to water.” He then gave the city of Detroit the OK to shut the water off for non-payment of water bills. Well, your judgeship there may not be an “enforceable right” today, a determination that only a Capitalist would make, but there will be very soon. Shouldn’t our government enforce the right of the people to have clean water, adequate sewage, periodic trash collection, heat and light? Shouldn’t our civilization provide us with at least those basic human needs? Shouldn’t those services be provided as cheaply as possible and without a capitalist profit included? Provided to us without destroying the air, land and water in the bargain? The Capitalist economic model has failed to do any of those things adequately. Except for the 1% who live in a bubble.
