FOX NEWS: Stormy Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti an 'adrenaline junkie' with a keen intellect and liberal stripe

So it looks like that Essential Consulting LLC set up by Michael Cohen to pay Stormy Daniels was also used to collect large sums for influence peddling — excuse me, consulting fees — from corporations with pending government cases. Hmm. I wonder if there’s a connection? Ha ha, just kidding! This was out-and-out graft.

President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign has spent about $835,000 in legal fees so far this year, or about 22% of its total spending, according to the latest fundraising reports filed quarterly with the Federal Election Commission.

The spending comes as Trump deals with the intensifying special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, as well as an ongoing legal battle with adult film star Stormy Daniels, whose given name is Stephanie Clifford.

The campaign’s legal consulting spending went to at least eight different firms and the Trump Corporation. The bulk of the spending, about $350,000, went to Jones Day, which has represented the campaign since the 2016 election, including any litigation related to it.

Two others firms — Harding LLP and Larocca, Hornik, Rosen, Greenberg & Blaha, which are involved in the legal fight with Daniels — were paid a combined $280,000.

Using campaign funds to pay for the president’s mounting legal fees related to Daniels and the Russia investigation means that the money small-dollar donors are giving to the president’s campaign isn’t all going toward traditional reelection efforts like ads, campaign staff payroll, and fundraising.

Fitzgerald wouldn’t offer an opinion on whether Reynolds’ ruling was a correct interpretation of the law, but said it creates headaches for local elections officials, particularly with possible overlapping nomination paper and absentee ballot deadlines for the August primary and November general election. He said Reynolds didn’t consider those practical effects in her ruling. “The logistics of this is very messy,” Fitzgerald said. “I don’t think Judge Reynolds considered that at all how this would transpire in the real world. … The average taxpayer is going to be like, ‘You’re kidding me.’”

It is not that hard to hold an election. Unless, of course, you don’t want to hold an election. Then it becomes very hard. And I’ve searched the law high and low and I have yet to find an exemption for a town clerk’s headaches. Try an aspirin and do your job.
