It’s illegal for any public official to take a bribe. That includes the president of the United States.
In the presidents case the Constitution requires that the House impeach and the Senate convict and remove from office any president corrupt enough to take a bribe. (Article 2 Section 4)
Trump demanded, both directly and through intermediaries, that the president of the Ukraine, Zelensky, publicly announce that an investigation had been started to look into the misdeeds of the Biden’s and of the Democratic Party during the 2016 election.
In exchange for those investigations Trump would release the $400 million in military aid authorized by congress for the Ukraine.
Trump solicited a bribe from Zelensky and that sort of corruption is illegal and unconstitutional so Trump must be removed from office for the good of the country.
