Stupid, arrogant, or both?

WASHINGTON — The special counsel in the Russia investigation has learned of two conversations in recent months in which President Trump asked key witnesses about matters they discussed with investigators, according to three people familiar with the encounters.

In one episode, the president told an aide that the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, should issue a statement denying a New York Times article in January. The article said Mr. McGahn told investigators that the president once asked him to fire the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III. Mr. McGahn never released a statement and later had to remind the president that he had indeed asked Mr. McGahn to see that Mr. Mueller was dismissed, the people said.

In the other episode, Mr. Trump asked his former chief of staff, Reince Priebus, how his interview had gone with the special counsel’s investigators and whether they had been “nice,” according to two people familiar with the discussion.

GOP candidate: Instead of gun control, have teachers hit active shooters with fire extinguishers

Body shop chain owner Shawn Moody announces a run for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

A leading Republican contender running to be the next governor of Maine offered the dumbest idea ever to stop mass shootings. Good thing he doesn’t have an important job, huh

‘This is not going to end well’: Trump’s friends and allies are worried he’s spiraling out of control — and they say this time is different, Business Insider via april_d_mccormick3

Didn’t we already know he was mentally ill?

President Donald Trump’s friends and confidantes are reportedly more worried about his emotional health than ever before.

As Trump becomes ever more focused on perceived attacks against him, constantly obsesses over TV coverage, and lashes out at friends and foes alike in public, many close to him say he is approaching “pure madness,” according to the Washington Post.

Retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey did not mince his words about Trump’s current mental state.

“I think the president is starting to wobble in his emotional stability and this is not going to end well,” he told the Post. “Trump’s judgment is fundamentally flawed, and the more pressure put on him and the more isolated he becomes, I think, his ability to do harm is going to increase.”

But others say things will likely get worse before they get better.

“We haven’t bottomed out,” one official told the paper.

Armed deputy at Fla. school waited outside building during shooting, never went in, sheriff says

Broward County Sheriff - 2016 Ford Interceptor Utility

Run after someone with an assault rifle? I don’t know that I would have been all that eager:

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said during a Thursday news conference that the officer waited outside the building for about four minutes without ever going in. Authorities say 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz fatally shot 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on Feb. 14.

The sheriff says the deputy responded to the building where the shooting took place, took up a position outside a door and never went in.
