Mark Warner: ‘Buckle up’

SEN. MARK WARNER (D-Va.) hosted a dinner Friday night for more than 100 guests at his house on Martha’s Vineyard as part of the DSCC’S annual Majority Trust retreat. OVERHEARD: Warner, the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, joking to the crowd: “If you get me one more glass of wine, I’ll tell you stuff only Bob Mueller and I know. If you think you’ve seen wild stuff so far, buckle up. It’s going to be a wild couple of months.”

Trump ‘Fixer’ Michael Cohen Will Be Arrested Within The Next Few Weeks, Michael Avenatti Predicts

Looks like Michael Cohen is going to cooperate:

As attorneys for Michael Cohen rush to meet Judge Kimba Wood’s Friday deadline to complete a privilege review of over 3.7 million documents seized in the April 9 raids of Cohen’s New York properties and law office, a source representing this matter has disclosed to ABC News that the law firm handling the case for Cohen is not expected to represent him going forward.

To date, Cohen has been represented by Stephen Ryan and Todd Harrison of the Washington and New York firm, McDermott, Will & Emery LLP.

No replacement counsel has been identified as of this time.

Cohen, now with no legal representation, is likely to cooperate with federal prosecutors in New York, sources said. This development, which is believed to be imminent, will likely hit the White House, family members, staffers and counsels hard.

Looks like Manafort’s going to jail

Talking turtle won’t allow vote on Mueller protection

So Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Scum) just gave the go-ahead signal to Trump: He says he won’t allow legislation to protect Bob Mueller from being fired.

He told Neil Cavuto last night on Fox he doesn’t believe Trump will fire him — and he doesn’t want the bill on the floor.

“I don’t think he should fire Mueller and I don’t think he’s going to,” he said. “So this is a piece of legislation that isn’t necessary, in my judgment.

“I’m the one who decides what we take to the floor, that’s my responsibility as the majority leader, we will not be having this on the floor of the Senate,” he said.

Cavuto asked our own Yertle McTurtle if he’d be shocked if Trump fired Mueller. “Yes, I don’t think he should and I don’t think he will,” the turtle croaked.

A bipartisan group of senators introduced a bill last week that would make it harder for fire Mueller, stating that the special counsel can only be fired for “good cause” by a senior Justice Department official.

I don’t like Jim Comey

But I do like gossip, so I’m probably going to read his book. Here’s a summary.

Who’s draining the swamp?

The man who’s threatening to fire Robert Mueller, or Robert Mueller?

It’s easy to fall into the trap of viewing Mr. Mueller as a savior, an omniscient narrator who will soon reveal all. While there’s no way of knowing how important this narrative of corruption will be to the investigation as a whole, it does make plain that many of the problems unearthed by the special counsel are beyond his power as a prosecutor to resolve.

Instead, addressing them will require political will. The prosecution of Mr. Manafort may bring some justice, for example, but the loopholes that made his graft possible continue to exist for others to potentially exploit. In the absence of stricter, better-enforced regulations, foreign money will still be able to flow into United States elections.

These are issues to which Mr. Mueller cannot provide a solution, however long the public waits. Mr. Mueller is both a prosecutor and a storyteller. But the response to the story he tells is up to the country to determine through politics.

Rosenstein expanded Mueller’s power less than two weeks after Trump drew ‘red line’ On Finances

newstome1: Dick Morris: Rosenstein Threatened Intelligence...

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein gave special counsel Robert Mueller the authority to expand his investigation less than two weeks after President Donald Trump said that probing his finances would be a “red line.” In July 2017 interview with The New York Times, Trump was asked if an investigation into his personal and company finances would… Continue reading “Rosenstein expanded Mueller’s power less than two weeks after Trump drew ‘red line’ On Finances”

Mueller files 32 new indictments against Manafort, Gates

Manafort reaches $12 million bail agreement with special counsel that could allow him to travel

Apparently Rick Gates is not being as cooperative as we thought. Either there has been some discussion of pardons or he is a very, very stupid man. I am not sure which, but whatever the case, Special Counsel Robert Mueller filed serious new charges against Paul Manafort and Rick Gates. This indictment alleges money laundering and… Continue reading “Mueller files 32 new indictments against Manafort, Gates”

Bannon interviewed by Mueller for over 20 hours

House Republicans seethe at tight-lipped Bannon

Well, this is interesting. “Sloppy” Steve Bannon reportedly met with Special Counsel Bob Mueller for over 20 hours just this week alone, according to an NBC News report. Bannon was one of Donald Trump’s chief strategists during the election and also worked in the White House as an “adviser” prior to being ousted late last year, so he knows where all the skeletons are.
